Fresh udon noodles and prepared so well! We were pleasantly surprised to have a great meal at this location. Our server explained how the menu works. We went with the zaru udon (cold dipping udon), the curry udon (with tempura), and the katsu donburi with a mini udon. The zaru udon was a big portion (regular size) and you ground up your own sesame seeds for the dipping sauce. The curry was amazing tasting! The katsi donburi was in a skillet, separate from the rice. The egg, onion, and katsu were great - not just a sweet sauce. The mini udon tasted amazing. The pork and fish broth was very flavorful, not salty. This place is a real find. Will have to come back.

We got seated fairly quickly outside because it was a weeknight. It was a beautiful evening so it was perfect. The downside was that because we were seated outside, the waiter/waitresses often neglected us. Overall the food was great. I would definitely recommend both dishes!

Delicious handmade udon in the walkable downtown area of Mountain View! Nice vibes. The service: The servers were very nice, asked if we wanted recommendations, and kept our glasses full. The food also came out really quick. The food: My go-to is the tempura zaru udon, which is a cold dish with tempura on the side. The broth is clean and simple, and I love having it cold because the noodles are chewier. The decent portion of tempura is also very good (came with shrimp, potato, eggplant, squash). My fiancée got the salmon spinach cream udon which was also delicious. This has the flavors of a more traditional creamy pasta dish, so it's nice that they have that option. This is our favorite spot for udon so we'll definitely be back.

I enjoy coming here because I am able to sit outside. The service here has been amazing. I have not had any issues with it so far. The food is delicious and always fulfilling. The salmon udon was good and very flavorful. The mentai dish was very rich and overall good. I would recommend all of the dishes to try!

I have noticed this place a few times with lots of people waiting outside. That being said, I finally decided to give it a try! Strategy: I arrived around 4:45pm, and it was pretty empty! It was nice to beat the crowd. I ordered the Mentai Cream Udon which was great. It was definitely on the heavier side, but it was delicious. It's difficult to describe the taste but think cheesy/tint of sweet/savory? Inside is very cute and aesthetic and the service was friendly!

Went here to celebrate my birthday with a few friends and it was pretty cool. This is the third location of Udon Mugizo that I have visited and the noodles are the best. Definitely recommend getting the cream mentai Udon with egg. A friend of mine tried the lychee soda and it was honestly not as good as it looked. It had a cool light in it, though, which was a cool extra thing. Staff was super helpful. The service was honestly the fastest I've ever had in any of the locations and the vibe in this location was the best as well since it had like a good wooden feel, and the seating area looked like there was more space than any if the other locations.

Had a chance to try Udon Mugizo with some friends and this as a nice experience! Thankfully my friend had stood in line and we were seated promptly. The place was pretty crowded but it is a nice spot to try different udon specialties. The ambiance was nice and service was fast as well. For food we tried: *Tonkotsu - this one was yummy - not too heavy and overly creamy. This came with egg and pieces of chashu which was nice as well as crispy pieces of tempura! * Mentai cream sauce udon - if you are looking for a heavy creamy udon, then this is a good dish for you! I enjoyed this, but this is on the heavier side. Overall the food was yummy and we enjoyed thoroughly.

Would you pay $41 for two Udon dishes for lunch? Came here Mon Oct 30 , 2023 around noon for lunch, having walked from Kaiser Permanente lab office on Castro several blocks down the street. Cold day so nobody in their right mind was eating outside. Cozy cramped quarters but generally good ambiance in a clean setting. Ordered at 12:03, and received dishes by 12:19pm. My $21 Tonkatsu Udon deluxe came with pork and fish broth, several chunks of pork chasu, shrimp tempura, a boiled egg, garlic, green onions, spinach, and fish powder. A bit oily, but not too salty, and huge amount of udon noodles, some the best that I've ever tasted. Wife's $20 Nabeyaki Udon came with a poached egg, 2 shrimp tempura, chicken, fish cake, maitake mushrooms, green onions in a clay pot. Wife always complains of her dishes being too salty. Usually she leaves a pool of too salty broth. Not this time, as everything was perfect. She slurped all of it down to the last drop. Not sure if the clay pot made much difference in taste, as no crusted rice hanging onto the side. No need to buy a large bowl when a regular bowl will do just fine. No need to get the Tonkatsu Udon deluxe, as it comes with pork belly, which is basically fat like in bacon, and probably shortened my lifespan a few days with its artery clogging properties. I guess Monday is a slow day, as only five couples, three of them ladies speaking in Japanese. And I was the only male customer.
